I bought the two disc Styx CD recently, I'd put it off for awhile but I'm glad to have songs like Borrowed Time and Pieces of Eight remastered. Lots of great pics in the liner notes too. Any idea if any Styx albums as a whole will come out remastered anytime soon? Grand Illusion is 30 years old! You'd think a remastered version would be a great idea for 2007!!

i only had my phone so the pics i got didn't turn out too great. glenn sang backup the whole show, but the highlight was him doing End of the Century, I just love that song and how cool to see him! Has he toured with Dennis recently or is this out of the ordinary? lots of people were there, mega Styx fans too, people with their vinyl and styx posters, etc. it was so cool! much more of a hardcore crowd of fans than what i saw in vegas. a big, loud crowd - Dennis seemed impressed by our enthusiasm too!

:biggrin: sorry i was slow to reply to this, it's been a busy few weeks. well, the show was great, i enjoyed seeing dennis with a band even more than with an orchestra. and glen burtnik (sp?) was there too so i was really happy to hear him sing End of the Century, a song I really like. Dennis started with Light Up! one of my favorites, and those two were I think the only ones I hadn't heard live last year in Vegas. The highlight of the night was DESERT MOON because there was a beautiful moon out and this being an outdoor venue it was fun to watch Dennis point to the moon and then start the song. Dennis waved at me at one point because I was jumping up and down smiling and waving at him. So, that was cool! Oh, and the best song of the night by far was Mr. Roboto! The crowd loved it, it was so cool to hear everyone chanting together at the end "I'm Killroy,Killroy..." Great night!

I'll be at the free Dennis show on Saturday night here in Denver!!! yay!

I'm a big Broncos fan myself, between searching the DDY board and the Broncos boards, it keeps me entertained when work gets too crazy. :-)

I esp. like Dennis' look during Paradise Theater....and the Killroy era (so very 80's stylin'!). The beard, loved it! So shaggy, so 70's! Loved the moustache too. :-) The second, fourth and fifth pics are my favorites from that nice set of pics that SuiteMadameBlue posted! LadyBugKing, that pic you posted is great too! I LOVE that look on Dennis!!! I think i'm gonna need to watch some Styx vids tonight, I miss the man! :-) I think he looks fantastic in the Caught In The Act concert video too. Does anyone else have that Japanese '82 tv concert? I want to know what the story is at the end of the show when Dennis shaves off his moustache onstage. Out with the Paradise Theater look, and into the Killroy era in one moment!

Hi everyone! Well, needless to say I had a fantastic time seeing DDY in concert for the first time in Las Vegas on Saturday night (Oct. 8). The double bill with Alan Parsons was a great combination, as I also have been a big AP fan for many years, and the music from both DDY and AP worked well with the orchestra. DDY was last to come on, he came on a little late, around 9:30 or so, they had some technical problems with the piano and guitar or something. Anyway, I loved hearing all the songs he did, let's see if I can remember them all: Grand Illusion, Desert Moon (probably my favorite), Pieces of Eight, Castle Walls, Best of Times, Babe, Lady, Mr. Roboto (well, again, probably my favorite), Don't Let It End, Show Me The Way, Rockin the Paradise, and Suite Madame Blue. I'm sure I'm missing some.....the entire show was so much fun, particularly his banter between songs. He's so hilarious! His stories had everyone laughing. My personal favorite was when he described the Excorcist moment in Castle Walls and said how the band saw that movie in NYC when it came out and he was rooming with the bass player who was scared that night and wanted to leave the lights on....then he went on to say "our guitar player who shall remain nameless, Tommy Shaw, was dating Linda Blair" and said they were all teasing him on their jet plane with the headspinning Excorcist thing. So, that was an especially funny story that I enjoyed. The show was fantastic and what a thrill to hear "the voice" in person! And to get a complete performance of Mr. Roboto! My 80's childhood is now complete! :-)

Hey all, I went to my first Styx show last night, here's a review I posted to a tommy board. I'm glad I've got DDY coming up in just a few days! Anyway, I really enjoyed seeing Tommy and JY, read on! I've mainly lurked here for awhile, so, I'm finally posting since I saw my first Styx concert last night! Read on.... Dennis fan attends her first Styx concert October 5, 2005 I went to my first Styx concert last night at the Budweiser Center in Loveland, Colorado. They came on first, before REO Speedwagon, show started at 7:30pm. I was so impressed with their energy and how they really got the crowd involved! Tommy looks better than he ever has, how long do you think he spends on his hair? Just kidding but, it looks damned awesome. JY sans beard is looking fantastic as well. And the bass player (sorry, I'm a newbie when it comes to the new band so I don't know his name) I thought was really gorgeous, toe me hee looked a lot like Boromir (Sean Bean’s character) from LOTR. They sounded even better than they looked of course!. The songs they did were some of my favorites, from Tommy there was Too Much time on my hands (now I know for next time, everyone around me held up their cups of beer on the “bottle of cold brew” line, that was fun!), Foolin’ Yourself , Renegade (the finale) and an acoustic hippie tune from the Big Bang album that I wish I knew the title to because I want to download it (anyone have a complete set list they could email me from last night’s show?). JY did some of my favorites of his songs too including Snowblind (his intro to this one was funny, especially when he said, it’s Tuesday night, and we’re having fun!), Miss America, and snippets of Heavy Metal Poisoning and Midnight Ride during the medley. I enjoyed the medley a lot but it left me wanting to hear complete versions of some songs that they only performed a few seconds of (like Mr. Roboto in particular, are they past that now, I mean, they’re selling Mr. Roboto t-shirts for $30, couldn’t they at least do the entire song? I felt as ripped off as when I saw Prince and he did one verse from When Doves Cry! :-).....) and also Crystal Ball. Now onto my one problem, as a Dennis fan, with the band, and that would be Gowan. I really did try to go in with an open mind and I think his high voice does suit the DDY songs just fine, but, his onstage antics didn't wear well with me after awhile. Maybe it was the Tom Jones moves or something but by the end of the concert all I could think of when I watched him was Austin Powers with a mullet. He’s fun and silly and I love that whirling keyboard (man that thing is cool) but as a big fan of DDY it was hard for Gowan to fill those shows in my mind.. Still, he didn’t ruin the show for me either and I’m happy the guys are having fun and enjoying themselves with this band, but, I couldn’t help thinking (as a Dennis fan remember) that if they are this good with Gowan, how great they’d be if they were still playing with Dennis. Oh well, that’s why I have tickets to see Dennis play in Las Vegas this coming weekend. If you all don’t hate me by now (sorry Gowan fans!) maybe I’ll post that review here to. J And on a final note, if anyone has any idea of what recent Styx footage I can find out there on the web (ebay, traders, etc.) I would love to get a hold of some. I traded earlier this year with other fans for classic Styx era video footage but now that I’ve seen Tommy in the here and now, I just want more. Man, he’s looking good!!! Thanks for reading! Lisa

Which scene in ROADIE features a Styx song? I don't have the soundtrack but after seeing Alice and Cheap Trick this weekend at the State Fair (it was just sooooooooooooooooo Roadie!) I have to rewatch that movie soon (I do have it on DVD). If someone could just give me an idea of where I'll find the Styx song in it that'd be great! That Will Ferrell SNL skit sounds hilarious! I'd love to see it.

What's your favorite TS and JY Styx tracks? Even as DDY fans you have to like at least some TS and JY Styx songs. My favorite JY song is off of Kilroy, Double Life, and my favorite TS Styx track is Love in the Midnight.

I got my tixkets for the Aladdin show and I'm going to Vegas in October! Yay! What's really weird is that Styx is playing around here on Oct. 4th, so I get to see them first, then DDY. So, what a fun week that will be for me!

But are they remastered? That's what I'd be interested in, all my copies on cd are not remastered. it'd be hard for me to choose between Paradise Theater and Crystal Ball, those are my two favorite albums along with Kilroy. :-) well i just answered my own question, this guy who reviewed it on amazon says that cd sound is better than vinyl sound (i could argue that point) but they are not remastered: REVIEW FROM AMAZON.....All three albums have a great sound, no audiable "cracks or pops" like on the Lp. Each Cd comes with a booklet. the only disappointing thing abouth this collection is that they are the EXACT same CD as if you were to buy each cd individually. I bought this thinking that the cd's would be remastered even more that the styx cd's already being sold, I was wrong, but didn't mind. It is SO much better listening to styx on Lp, but it is easier listeing on cd's if I'm traveling, or on the road. This is perfect for someone who does not have these records on cd yet, but if you do, don't bother, no surprises.
