Hi All, I had to post an experience I had today. I went to a festival we have here in Milwaukee called Summerfest. A big music festival. "Styx" was playing there tonight, and since it was free to me (someone gave me tickets to get in), I thought I would go check "Styx". First let me tell you that I wore my Roboto Tee-shirt from Dennis' 2004 tour. That started a lot of conversations with people. My hubby and I were happy to let everyone know that this version of the band doesn't even have any original members and is (to us) just another cover band. I've resisted seeing them since the breakup with Dennis, but figured since this was a freebie, I would go. We stood next to another couple, who were aware of what went on with Dennis and the band. They didn't seem to care one way or another, they just wanted to hear "Styx". Well, let me tell you, when Gowan started singing Lady we all started laughing. I can't believe this band is doing as well as they are........he sounds awful. We all agreed that he sounded pretty much like Dennis........on helium. It was so terrible, it was sad. Tommy Shaw sounded very good. I've always liked his voice, and he didn't disappoint me tonight. JY was JY. I'm not a fan of his, but if you are a fan of his you would have liked hearing him tonight. Sounds the same as always. The music wasn't bad, but the singing from the "trying to sound like Dennis man" was sad. We walked out after about 40 minutes, and so did a whole lot of people although it was pretty crowded and a lot of people stayed and listened to the band. All in all, if you didn't know Styx with Dennis, you may like this band. But if you've ever heard Dennis with the band then this version is a disappointment. Judi

I had a similar experience as Wes. My first concert of Styx was in 1976, and I immediately took notice of Dennis because of his voice and his stage presence. I could watch him and listen to him forever. Then as the years have gone by and I've learned more of who he is, moral, family oriented.......that just strengthened my love of his music.
