Chalet BBQ on the corner of Sherbrooke and Decarie Expressway. Veggie Lovers at Pizza Hut. And in Halifax, The Chickenburger on the Bedford Highway.

People talk about the Montreal Smoked Meat at Schwartz' but I've never been there.

:-O You must go immediately.

I agree with you on Chalet BBQ. Great value and better than CSL BBQ and way better than Swiss Chalet.

Can't go to Schwartz' this weekend, it's F1 race weekend and it'll be CHAOS out there. I think I'll wait until they've all gone home. :-)

Chalet BBQ's got the BEST fries .... MMMMMM ........

- Schwartz is definitely in a class of its own. I just love their smoked meat (I believe the Americans call it Pastrami), but wouldn't eat there everyday.

- Montreal Pool Room is my favority for Steamers (or Hot Dogs).

- St. Viateur for Bagels

- Elio's Pizzeria for the most delicious Pizza

- Kam Shing for Chinese/Szechuan food

- Arahova's for Greek food

- My Parents home for Italian food

- As for my favorite experience to date...it's at an Ethiopian Restaurant (I couldn't believe my ears the first time I heard of this cuisine).

It's called "Mesob D'Or"....translated as the Golden Table (Mesob is a Table in Ethiopian & D'Or is of Gold in French).

It's a tiny little jewel, serving a selection of half-vegetarian/vegan and half meat dishes. Very spicy meat dishes. It's in the NDG Area (Monkland Boulevard).

The best part of the experience is that no utensils are provided. Everyone eats out of a common bowl in the center of the table, with their bare hands. Thankfully, our table only seated 4.

I suggest that you try it....but stay away from the meat dishes if you can't tolerate spicy food.
