Canada Chart Update

I will pop in the Canada chart updates I, and others, find into this thread.

Through June 4:

51 on Top 40 Mediabase chart. It went down one place.

155 on Rock Mediabase chart. Apparently it had been at 145 on this chart last week.

97 on Adult Contemporary Mediabase chart - I saw it as 137 on an earlier chart, so this is quite a jump.

Any others I find, I will post them under this topic.

Shawn found this one. Not sure who or what the chart represents, but any listing on any chart, to me, is a good thing! >:D

18 days to go!

I am anxious, now that I have ordered it! I hope Amazon does not drag its (their? his? her?) feet!

I checked a few Mediabase chart updates today and the song is pretty much in the same place it was before.

I am really hoping that when the CD gets released, and there is a bit more promotion, we will see the single go onto the sales charts (if it is released for purchase as a single) and get more radio play as well.

The single faces an uphill battle. Charts are based on Canadian sales or Canadian airplay. Because it is partly a french song, 80% of Canada (radio and consumers) will show no interest. The fact that the single is really only played in the province of quebec and is still faintly on various charts means it is doing pretty well in its target Quebec market.

I completely agree, but it would face an uphill battle if it were all in English, or if another single were being released from the CD. Radio markets rarely play new music from "old" artists.

I think the fact it is getting any play at all in any market is pretty good.

If the song gets heard, even by a few, it may spark interest in the CD. One can hope.

I'm wondering if the song is getting any airplay at all in Nova Scotia, where there's a small french contingent. I'll see if I have time to browse the Halifax radio station sites.

7 days left to the Halifax concert, 17 days to CD Release!

Hey Kathy, I'm getting flak from my cousins about being a groupie because of my upcoming trip "home" to Halifax for the concert. And I used to babysit these whippersnappers! I guess I didn't teach them to respect their elders very well did I? =))

Well, they can sit at home while I enjoy Tommy's playing and DDY's antics. Hee!

Found out that my old radio station, Q104, is sponsoring the Halifax Concert. I've emailed the music director to see if the single is getting any airplay at all over there ...

Just to bolster BLT's theory (and unfortunately, I think he's right as well), the answer from Q104's music director was:

From: Anna [mailto:annazee@newcap.ca]

Sent: June 7, 2007 10:19 AM

To: Muise, Amanda

Subject: Re: Dennis DeYoung

Hey Amanda,

Not sure if other stations are on it. We're not. It's not a rock song, but we're playing some of his rockier classics with Styx.

Can't wait for the show.

Cheers,

Anna Zee
