mtlfan
I've heard in the news that it's been pretty darned HOT in Chicago and some places are without electricity. No AC! Hopefully Dennis and the gang have either someplace else to go or generators to run electricity in their homes ....
Ron
No electricity stinks! Two weeks ago we had some violent storms come through outside of Philly and we were without power for 30 hours--some areas were out for 3 days. It wasn't quite as hot as it is in CHicago this week, but with no air who can tell once it gets above 90 if its 90 or 100?
mendelstyx
There were some areas (small) that had no power...however by and large, those of us in the area have power. This heat wave, while quite annoying...is nowhere near as lethal as the one that hit our area in 1995. I am sure Dennis and company are all taking the necessary steps to keep themselves hydrated and healthy. Now if only I could say the same for my office...which I kid you not has hovered at 97 degrees indoors 3 days running. Liz

That reminds me of the Summer of 1995 when we had several days of over 100 degree readings and a lot of people died. I was working at a Dunkin Donuts and the A/C had broke down, I remember being in a hot sweaty place trying to sell coffee and donuts with just fans running and the the lights turned out. Totally miserable. We've been lucky here in the Southwest suburbs with having electricity and my A/C is running, my soon to be ex lost power for a few hours but even in a few hours it was horrid conditions Robin
