Dan
Those rockin guys from pseudo Styx have a new single out and a video on their site from the Big Bang Theory album. Man, does it shred!! No wonder these guys wanted to leave DDY behind because this song is all rock man. Killer blistering guitars and screaming left and right. You would think you are listening to Motley Crue man! And if you believe any of this, I invite you to go the Styx world website and see what a wimpy soft easy listening ballad that is Rockin' Styx's latest single... They are so full of it... ladybugking
And really, if you consider a slideshow of photos a video, then any of us with a computer & digital pix can make a rock video! That's about all they can afford right now. As to the song -- "Can't Find My Way Back Home" (speaking of IRONIC titles!! LOL!) It is a decent rendition, but, honestly, listen to the original supergroup Blind Faith's version and that is all you ever need.

While the album may have had an initial push, honestly, the Big Bang has made a little thump. For die hards only. Liz

Bright_Light_Girl
HEY!!!!!!!!!! Don't be dissing Styx! I'm sorry people...but I love Styx's new cover version of "Can't Find My Way Home" as well as the video. I think it is absolutely wonderful! Can I be entitled to my own opinion? I think Styx did a wonderful job with this one. I don't think we should have to go Styx bashing just because DDY wasn't there to make the song with them. Don't get me wrong though...I love Dennis! That's why I'm HERE! I do wish Dennis would get back into Styx, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna go Styx bashing because of it. All I'm just sayin' here is...I think the song is great. I just hope you all understand that I love Dennis, but yet I love the Shaw/Young band as well... Dennis is missed greatly...but I won't be Styx bashing anytime soon... okay? No offense to anyone here. I love you all, but I'm just saying what I think. Just my opinion...that's all. Peace and music always... -~*-~*~-Bright_Light_Girl-~*-~*~-
Ron
Bright_Light_Girl- For the most part there is very little Styx bashing here, especially compared with some other boards where the pro-Dennis/anti-Styx and pro-Styx/anti-Dennis fans still go at it on a regular basis. For the most part most of the people here have moved on from the big split 8 years ago. However, there is still some resentment that rears its ugly head from time to time. But the general atmosphere here is "We love Dennis DeYoung", not "We hate Styx without Dennis", and recognize that there are people that enjoy listening to both groups. Just realize that occasionally someone may throw some trash around at the group currently known as Styx. Ron
Bright_Light_Girl
Thanks for the support, Ron! Yeah, I love both groups. I'm glad that this isn't one of those groups where we "hate" Styx...because I love Styx. I love Dennis so much, but I also love the current group as well. I'm glad you understand me! I just wish some people wouldn't bash Styx or Dennis...it's just not right for the people who love them both. Again...thanks for the support, Ron! Peace and music always... -~*~-Bright_Light_Girl-~*~- Edited February 18, 2007 by Bright_Light_Girl
Kilroy
I like the "new Styx" I just wish they'd let Gowan show he can sing instead of just keeping him as a keyboard player and making it the JY and Tommy Shaw band THAT bugs me-I like Gowan's voice, and he does some of the DeYoung songs justice (why he sings Lady is beyond me though)

He's not capable of doing them justice ...... If anything and this is my opinion , Tommy should step up and sing them . Maybe let Todd sing something , He sings on his wife's new Cd and sounds great ! Styx should incorperate some of their later material , Everything is cool , Add back One with everything , maybe I will be your witness , Etc .......
