Mr.Roboto571985 Posted August 13, 2012 Report Share Posted August 13, 2012 If you've seen any of Dennis DeYoung's most recent concerts either in person or on You Tube, if you look at the two bass drums, they no longer have the carousal from One Hundred Years from Now, but Dennis' name in classic Styx logo font. Has anyone else seen this, if so what do you think of it? I think it's pretty cool. Also I want to see life come back to this dormant forum, lol. I've seen this comment before, although the other person's intent was more of a jab at Dennis. I find it hard to believe that the physical characteristics of the current band members were taken into consideration when they were hired. It is merely coincidence. Dennis even used to joke about it on stage when Tommy D. was still a part of the band if anyone thought he would share the stage with a "Tommy and James" again. I want to bring back some of the informational content that was on the site previously. I think however for me to have the time to do so I will have to take a weekend trip away with just my laptop and get the code written. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening in the very near future. I also like to try to limit my posts. This site isn't about me, and I always worry that if I post too much it may seem that way. This place is for Dennis and his fans, and the fans of his music. Another thing I have learned about message boards: Controversy = Activity. So if there are discussions that can lead from disagreements to downright fighting, a board will be very active. With nothing to argue about here, there are no sides to take and post why you are for or against something (or someone). Personally, I think the less-active, more civil forum is better than some other forums that no matter what the topic, they end up becoming the "Dennis vs. JY/Tommy" thing by the third post....promptly followed by the "It's been 13 years...give it a break!" It also seems that he has upgraded his stage set and the lighting seems to be be better. To me his stage and lighting seemed to be too stripped down and generic. (My browser is Firefox) -- I guess, thanks to seeing photos and videos of August, I always thought he resembled Robin Zander of Cheap Trick. I don't think he looks anything like Tommy Shaw. If you really look at him, though, he looks like .... August Zadra. So there! --I have seen Jimmy in person before he joined up with DDY and so, I never saw much resemblance to JY. I guess for both guys, there is the long blonde hair. That's about it. --I think there are so many more outlets for discussion etc., between Facebook and Twitter etc. I know I spend a little too much time on Twitter, but am sort of addicted and I read a lot of linked articles from there. I find I don't visit DDYTalk like I used to. Or some of the other message boards I used to frequent either. I do know when Dennis does something new or has an interview or whatnot, the board lights up a bit more. AND, years ago, when Dennis had that sucky, awful website, this was the ONLY place to get news about him. Now his website is vastly improved and he is on Facebook, too. Oh, and I completely agree about the civility, Ron. There is "another" board for all that nastiness (though that has largely played out). I like this one to be a place of information and comments.
