I like Paul/Beatles/Wings stuff as well... I guess that kinda makes sense that prob most of us fans also like the Beatles type bands, since that was such a big influence on Dennis... Peace... I am disappointed that Dennis didn't like their Wooden Nickel stuff so much....I like a lot of it....particularly the stuff he sang. In fact, the most beautiful male voice I have EVER heard in my ENTIRE life is Dennis's voice singing "Mother Natures' Matinee" He has the voice of an angel....I could hear it every day and never get sick of it lol. I LIKE his early singing style a LOT. Eh...maybe it was the fake British accent he once mentioned they made him do....I dunno....but I sure liked it:) It seems the interview cut off rather abrupt. I agree about Mother Nature's Matinee! That was likely some listeners' first introduction to DDY's voice. (Mine was Lady). What an introduction!! One thing that always struck me about Dennis' early singing was that his leads were often pitched a bit lower than his later work. I think a lot of people are under the impression that he sang the higher parts in the harmonies, but even on the later stuff, he was often the bottom voice of the triad. Tommy definitely has a higher voice than Dennis.....and JY's is screechy sounding...if that makes any sense. Dennis clearly has the gift though. He can actually sing.....incredibly so. I hear remnants of his earlier style on OHYFN......he still has it. The Vibrato has become a later addition, and I know many really like it. I like it....but just not quite as much as that earlier style. My first true intro to his voice was Best Of Times back in 1981. Lady was MY FAVORITE song of his for a very long time afterward....after listening to all their albums. But Mother Nature's Matinee.....I could lull myself to sleep listening to that hauntingly beautiful song....and voice. Just. Wow! I am so glad you agreed! Things that the record company were insisting on, such as using other artist's songs on Styx I. He also has mentioned that when Lady didn't do anything when first released he then felt people didn't care for his style of writing and singing. So, on the WN albums post Styx II he was trying to write and sing like someone else. Personally, I enjoy quite a bit of the material on those albums.
