I will say that it was a marvelous show with a few surprises. I'm sure that the others will have plenty more to add once they get a chance to do so. First off, the show was not 100% acoustic. Hank was not playing an upright bass, and I don't know how to describe the electronics used with the guitars, but the show had a very basic, organic sound. For those of you that complain about Dennis being out front instead of behind the keyboards, you must see this show! He more than clearly demonstrated that he can still play, and kick some serious butt doing so. David Letterman band leader Paul Shaffer was there, clearly enjoying the show. Everyone looked relaxed and laid-back, which really helped with the show. They were only able to have two rehearsals together (and the one wasn't very productive). Nevertheless they sounded together and unified. Set list: Boy I sure hope someone else can help me with this, since I don't remember the exact order or anything, and I might miss a few things State Street Sadie AD 1928 Rockin' the Paradise Lady Grand Illusion Nowhere Man (boy did this sound great) One Hundred Years From Now All in a Day's Work Lorelei Save Me Light Up Desert Moon Sometime Love Just Ain't Enough (Glen) Patty Smyth/Don Henley Bam! (Glen) from Welcome to Hollywood Watching the World Go By (Glen) from unreleased Edge 2/released on Palookaville Suite Madame Blue Babe Best of Times / AD1958 / The End (Beatles) Come Sail Away The three Glen songs listed were interspersed throughout the set. Also, Jeff Watson performed two solo guitar pieces. I am unsure of their titles. The one was played on a 12-string, and sounded great as an introduction to Suite Madame Blue EXTRAS: With the extreme casualness during the show, there was a lot of extras thrown in. Someone hollered out to hear "Miss America". After Dennis told the fans to throw the guy out, he played about 30 seconds of it on the piano. Probably the best version of the song I have ever heard, mainly because it didn't include that annoying JY screeching. People were also calling out for "Sister Christian", which Jeff started to play a little bit of, and also a piece of another Night Ranger song (I think it might have been 3am, but I'm not sure). Castle Walls was called out for, and Dennis said to "go see the rock show" but then gave us the first verse. Someone called for "Freebird", and then Jeff started playing "Sweet Home Alabama". I thought it might go somewhere when Dennis started "Big wheels keep on turnin'" but then stopped saying that he didn't know that song. Dennis then asked "What is this, a cover band? Let's leave the covers for other bands to play" I wish I could go to Canada to see some of the performances up there, or hope that he gets booked for more down here. You don't know how badly I want for Dennis to do a few more of these and I think if they are well-received, he will, when the venue and opportunity call for it. They played the whole song, then they did a "short" ending. Hank was going to play the "full" (normal) ending, and Dennis waved him off. After they stopped, Dennis said "You want to hear the ending?" and then they played the "normal" ending. Wonder why Show Me The Way and Don't Let It End weren't part of it? I would have been disappointed at the drop of SMTW. That seems to be left on the sideline more and more!
