Why did DDY shave the beard between Grand Illusion and Pieces of 8? Why did he have almost a total makeover between Paradise theater and Kilroy by shaving his mustache and cutting his hair? It was almost grey during Kilroy as well. Did he do this for the Kilroy role? I remember hardly even recognizing him when this album came out! What was the deal with the "Spock like" sideburns that he had for most of the 80s and 90s? Did Dennis ever grow the mustache back after Paradise Theatre? Why or why not? Did the band make a conscious choice for Kilroy to all get haircuts? Because on that album everyone has really short hair (with the exception of JY of course). Compare their look on Kilroy vs. Paradise Theatre or even more extreme Grand Illusion. Does anyone realize that Dennis had pretty close to a mullet going on for Edge of the Century? ladybugking Posted March 31, 2005 Report Share Posted March 31, 2005 You know, Dennis' hair gets an AWFUL lot of attention, I have noticed. If you will see what the difference when he had no beard or moustache, at age 35 or so, and how young he looked, I think you may have an answer as to why he wore one, or both, for so long. Of course that was the style back then, along with the really long hair. But it also made Dennis look much older, in my opinion. What struck me, when he took off the moustache (in concert, I might add), was it took about 10 years off his face and he looked like someone in his early twenties, even with the gray hair. I really like his look for every single year of his professional life, including now. I guess my lest favorite look was mid 90's and the Star Trek sideburns. How brilliant is that? ;-) I think the moustashe was okay but really thought he came into his own look for Kilroy. I was in a rock club when "Mr. Roboto" premiered on MTV. Alot of other people there that night had no clue who the guy in the lavender jumpsuit was. "Who's the guy who sings like the STYX frontman"? That is too funny! But it makes sense. He really looked different! For my part, I got the shock of my life when I first watched BTM. The last time I had seen Dennis was in 1997 when he had that really dark brown dye. Then in BTM? WHITE! To answer all of the above, smiling all the way, I have tried to look like Dennis throughout the years and I LOVE IT, I have worn just about every style of hair and clothing Dennis has ever worn going back to the 70's when I first got into STYX.
