Ron Posted September 5, 2008 Report Share Posted September 5, 2008 First of all, I should get some major Dad points for taking my daughter to see the Jonas Brothers last week. But here's the truth: I like them. While many "boy bands" of the past were fabricated lip-syncers, these guys are for real. They write their music, compose it, and play it. They perform on stage like a band, not a dance studio. The one during the course of the night played guitar, piano, and drums. While they had some additional musicians on stage with them (drummer, bass, lead guitar, and a 10 piece string section), they do not slack off at all. Add and elaborate stage set and some cool lighting and pyro, and you have one cool show........ EXCEPT for the 10,000 screaming teenage girls in the audience, that at times was quite deafening. While I enjoyed the performance, a look around the crowd and you could see all of the parents that were there because they had to be there and hated the entire experience. I guess those moms forgot what it was like 20 years ago when they were screaming at Rick Springfield, Bon Jovi, or whoever else from the 80's you girls thought was hot back then. There were two opening acts: The Veronicas, who my daughter likes but have only been on tour for a few shows. They looked uncomfortable on stage, and their sound board operator should be fired for how crappy the mix sounded. Demi Lovato was on second (girl from Disney's Camp Rock), but her mix was only a little bit better. JB sound was excellent, and my daughter and I talked about "you get what you pay for/what you can afford". The only thing about the JB sound was Nick's "front stage" mic had a problem, and you could not hear him that well. But when he used another mic he sounded clear. Anyway, if you have a teenage girl at home that is simply begging to go see the Jonas Brothers--and you are able to get tickets--go and enjoy yourself, it's not that bad. Major dad points!!!! But trust me, I certainly have NOT forgotten what it was like 20 years ago screaming at concerts because I was still doing it last Sunday!!! Since I don't have a daughter, I don't have to worry about the Jonas Brothers, but I'm sure I'll get something else soon enough!! My son is playing Guitar Hero in his underpants as I type this - it's only a matter of time, LOL! (And now he wants mom to give it a try now that I've finished my tea. Help!)
