pinkfloyd1973
Just got back, ears are still ringing from a great concert put on by Dennis and the gang (new band name lol). Here goes........ We got there around 8:15 in time to see a band called 80's Enough (pretty good cover band), the parking was horrendous and we had to park on a side street about 5 blocks down. It was ten dollars to get in and as soon you go through the gates it's wide open with rides, games and beer garden on one side and food vendors on the other side of the stage. everyone was mulling around and some already had their seats (which was the lawn), by the time the other band finished (around 9ish) everyone started claiming their spots. Dennis came onstage around 9:35-9:40, the setlist is as follows........ The Grand Illusion Lady Lorelei Don't Let It End Castle Walls (preceded by the the Exorcist story) Light Up Mr. Roboto Desert Moon (with a ridiculously long guitar solo by Tommy D which the crowd loved, ok so the guy can play lol) 100 Years From Now (which my boyfriend LOVED) Pieces Of Eight (someone please tell me what that classical piece he plays in the middle during the interlude) This Time Next Year Rockin The Paradise Babe Suite Madame Blue (He held the note for 27 seconds and my boyfriend was duly impressed, until I told him he's held it longer before) The Best Of Times Come Sail Away (the dreams speech before it of course) Dennis was very animate and joked a lot with the crowd, while introducing the band he mentioned where everyone was from, I didn't Know Tommy D was a south sider as well...pretty kewl. Dennis of course metioned his Hunchback at the Bailiwick Theatre, and a snippet of Ave maria was played as they were getting ready to come on stage. There was prolly at least a couple hundred people there including some idiot who spilled beer on my legs and on my boyfriend's shirt. A lot of camera phones (and prolly some video phones too ..youtube?) and quite a few teens there too. If I can remember anything else I temporarily forgot I tell you later lol, tired from a great night (which we almost didn't go) l-| Robin
mtlfan
Desert Moon (with a ridiculously long guitar solo by Tommy D which the crowd loved, ok so the guy can play lol) I've got his entire solo from the Trois Rivieres concert last June in the downloads section. Yes the boy can play. From the 10 concerts I've been to, that solo lasts from 2 to 2.5 minutes, depending on his mood. :-) Pieces Of Eight (someone please tell me what that classical piece he plays in the middle during the interlude) In the Hall of the Mountain King by Edvard Grieg from Peer Gynt. My 11 year old son LOVES it. Thanks so much for the review! It's great to hear about other concerts. Amanda Thanks Amanda, I forgot one part too.......before Come Sail Away (which of course was the "encore") Dennis said to pretend that they went off the stage and we cheered them back on (which they didn't do) it was hilarious. I think I converted my boyfriend to a big Dennis fan, he wants to get all his songs (including 100 Years) =D> Robin

He did exactly that at Trois Rivieres in June and he did the same in Cornwall in July. I think it just makes life easier, don't you think? :-) One month and 5 days to Aug. 31st in Gatineau!!! Oh, and good work converting your boyfriend! Not that it should have been very difficult .... Edited July 26, 2008 by mtlfan

pinkfloyd1973
No "Show Me The Way"? Why was that left out? I would have been bummed! Nope, no "Show Me The Way." He never really does the whole song anymore just a quick accapella version, myself personally didn't miss it Robin
TimH
Nope, no "Show Me The Way." He never really does the whole song anymore just a quick accapella version, myself personally didn't miss it Robin It is a song that means a lot to me - not sure why it is getting the short end of the stick (pardon the pun) - I mean it is technically one of Dennis's biggest hits. Didn't it go all the way to #3? I certainly hope that he puts it back in the set - there are some I would take out to ensure this one was in.
