Scott
"Pieces of Styx" will be playing Busch Gardens in Tampa, FL on 2/24. It will be good to see them for free (I have annual passes to BG). Last time I saw them (w/ Def Leppard and Foreigner) their set wasn't that strong and I felt a little cheated. Now's their chance to make up for it (I hope). Also, a good chance to expose the kids the rest of Styx' music. They saw DDY at Busch Gardens last year and loved it. ladybugking
I am curious about that designation, "Pieces of Styx". Although, I will say -- how appropriate is THAT name, eh??? ) They are, indeed, "pieces of Styx." Anyway. If it is a play on the song/album title "Pieces of Eight" what irony! They come nowhere near that song in their sets.

It really sucks to say you won't go hear one of your favorite bands, doesn't it? As much as I loved the band growing up, it pains me to say that I wouldn't care if they were on my front lawn playing. Those reunion concerts in '96 and '97 were some of the best ones I ever attended. Then the bottom dropped out and they were at each others throats again. It just amazes me that a geoup of such talented and intelligent people couldn't put things behind them and bring their gift back to the world. They should be old enough and wise enough to see through the petty things. I NEVER thought I would see the day that I would say I could care less about the band STYX and not be interested in seeing them perform. ReciprocityTM
Yes it does ! Ron ! I had hope at one time , but It's long gone ....... When I think about it all ending, I have my way of putting a perspective on it. Instead of thinking about the whole "ice skating on the River Styx" thing from JY, I listen to Goodbye to Roseland. Intended by Dennis or not, when I listen to that wonderful song it seems almost literally to be saying "goodbye to Styx." Of course, if he had meant it to be interpreted that way, he couldn't use the whole "they kicked me out of the band" argument. Whatever the intent, that's what the song means to me and it makes me feel better. After all, all good things must come to an end. So goodbye to Roseland How I wish I could stay To live in the memory Of your sweet sweet day But every road that we travel, has an end And so the time now has come to say Farewell old friend ...But all the love that you gave me will remain And every tear that Ive cried has not been shed in vain
Scott
"Pieces of Styx" is just something I came up with to describe the state of the band today. It's not how the show is being marketed.
